ABOUT NATASHA
Natasha Sundar (Now carrying the “Sundar Popo” legacy) was born in Queens, New York (US) and grew up in Trinidad and Tobago, where she was raised by her grandparents Sundar Popo and Keyso Popo. At the age of 21 she returned to the US after which she joined the United States Air Force (USAF) as a Financial Specialist. Currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts (USA) and work for the USAF as a Budget Analyst. She enjoys reading, watching movies, singing, dancing, and spending time with friends and family.
Natasha has always loved music. There was always music playing in the house of her grandfather Sundar Popo. Musicians visited and they would have singing sessions. Coming from musically inclined family generations, she couldn’t ignore the passion and love she felt for music. She decided to start singing to embrace that love.
Natasha already sung ‘Chardar Bichhao Balma’, ‘Naina Bandh’, a Kanchan and Sundar Popo Mashup with the Dutch singer Rochana Balgobind, ‘Yeh Mera Dil’ and ‘Kabootar’. Her favorite is the ‘Sundar Popo Mashup’, because they are popular songs sung by her grandfather and it was a tribute to him as her first recording. Her experience in the Netherlands and Spain with Rochana Balgobind and producer Sunny-R was amazing with lots of studio work.
The late Sundar Popo is Natasha’s grandfather. He meant the world to her, which she now appreciates more as an adult. Every day that goes by she misses him more. He was someone who made sure Natasha was always taken care of, as a father should. She is who she is, because of Sundar Popo and his wife Keyso. Natasha misses him more now as she walk the path her grandfather paved. She wished her grandfather was still around to guide her in her music career.
Natasha has many favorite songs of her grandfather. Some are ‘Jhula Way Lagli Ho’, ‘Oh my Lover’, ‘Don’t Fall in Love’, ‘Bolo Gi’ and ‘Rampersad’. She loves these songs, because of the lyrical meaning and how much it relates to love and life they experienced together. She loved the amazing music compositions her grandfather did back in those days; it was like he could see the future.
Natasha hopes to create more original music and work with different genres of music as she progresses. She still wants to keep grounded in Chutney Soca music and be able to entertain and perform for her fans and supporters.
Her life quote is “Consistency is Key” because whatever you choose to do in life, you can accomplish your goals if you are consistent. You might fail at times and fall, but if you try again, work hard and keep going, you will achieve results!
